The National Criminal Database Search is a broader geographic search scope than the typical seven (7) year search of counties of residences lived and worked. A standard one or two county background check will not typically find a record if the person has moved, or committed a crime in another county or state. Serious offenders move from state to state, and sometimes do not provide complete address history when applying for employment.

The NCDS is an instant database compiled of criminal information of multiple sources with more than 345 million records. Data included from the dept of corrections, administrative office of the court and sex offender registries covering 49 states, Washington D.C., Guam and Puerto Rico. County searches may be necessary for a complete criminal check.
