Instructor Profile | Cynthia Thompson, MBA, SCP, SPHR
Cynthia Y. Thompson is Principal and Founder of The Thompson HR Firm, a human resource consulting company in Memphis, TN. She is a senior human resources executive with more than twenty years of human resources experience concentrated in publicly traded companies. She is also the Editor | Publisher of HR Professionals Magazine, an HR trade publication distributed to HR professionals in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. HR Professionals Magazine is an Approved Provider of SHRM and HRCI recertification credits.
Cynthia has an MBA and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources by HRCI and is also certified as a SHRM-SCP. She is a faculty member at Christian Brothers University in Memphis where she teaches Human Resource Management. She also teaches Online SHRM and HRCI Certification Exam Prep Classes.
Cynthia was appointed by Governor Bill Haslam to the State of Tennessee Human Resources Board of Appeals in 2014. She is a recipient of the SHRM-Memphis HR Executive of the Year and recently received the SHRM-Memphis Lifetime Achievement Award in Human Resources. She is also a past recipient of the Tennessee SHRM Professional Excellence Award.
Cynthia was recently named a Fellow of the Employer Provider Interface Council in recognition of her dedication to the improvement of healthcare. The goal of the council is to focus on the economics and real-world decision- making process in healthcare. She is the recipient of the 2022 Tennessee Human Resource Management Excellence Award.
